PNWC New Church Plants

Church Planting is at the heart of both the Evangelical Covenant Church and the Pacific Northwest Conference. Not surprisingly, one of our core, missional priorities is to plant more churches, in more places among more people, throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Simply put, we view church planting much like a “local mission project.” In Acts 1:8, Jesus gives a “mission map” when he says, “You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

On the mission map, Jerusalem is comparable to where we live. It is, and remains, a key focus of our energies. Church planting helps us fill in the map of mission by reaching into neighboring communities all over the region.

The Pacific Northwest Conference has always planted churches; church planting has always been the primary means of reaching into the places that we might not otherwise reach. Church planting remains, in the words of one noted missiologist,” the single most effective way to reach people with the Gospel.”
